Dr. Aqil Azizi, a dedicated lecturer at Universitas Bakrie’s Department of Environmental Engineering, holds a Ph.D. in Marine Biotechnology from the University of Science and Technology (UST) in South Korea and a Master’s degree from the University of Tasmania in Australia. Beginning his career as a Research Assistant at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST), Dr. Azizi has gained extensive experience in environmental engineering and biotechnology.

Currently, he leads pioneering research projects focused on environmental sustainability. Dr. Azizi’s work centers on biogas production, specifically utilizing Palm Oil Mill Effluents (POME) and peatlands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He is also an expert in microbial diversity analysis within anaerobic digestion processes involving POME and peatlands.

Dr. Azizi’s commitment to advancing knowledge is exemplified through his notable publications. In 2016, he contributed significantly to the scientific community by comparing microbial communities during anaerobic digestion in the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology. In 2018, his research on electrochemical communication in anaerobic digestion was published in the Chemical Engineering Journal. Dr. Aqil Azizi’s impressive academic background and impactful research continue to shape the field of environmental engineering.
